Basically, all patients lose weight in the first year after surgery. After that, there is a chance that you will gain weight again. This is normal and no reason to panic as long as it stays at a few kilos. Your body gets used to the new amount of food it takes in. However, there is a risk that you will revert to old (bad) eating habits and you do not exercise enough. Be aware that the surgery is only a tool, you have to make conscious choices in what and how much you eat. Weight gain happens if you no longer follow the nutritional advice and/or exercise too little. In most patients, the weight stabilizes over time.
