How soon will I lose weight after surgery?

This varies from person to person and depends on a number of factors. Mostly, in the first weeks/months you will lose kilos the fastest. On average, in the beginning people lose 1 kilo per week. This is due to the small stomach, but for the most part you do it yourself through your adapted lifestyle. It is therefore very important to maintain your new eating and exercise habits. The moveUP applicatie can help you with this.

After 1 or 2 years, most patients are on their lowest weight. After that most of them gain some weight again. This is completely normal. Most patients who undergo surgery lose, on the long term, about 25% of their body weight or 60% of their excessive body weight.

Notice, some medicines can also influence your weight, such as medication for diabetes.

In general, it is wise to lose weight calmly.
